Hainan is home to the most concentrated, diverse, well-preserved, and expansive continental island tropical rainforests in China.

Since 2023, with the support of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Administration, Shan Shui has been exploring the conservation of tropical rainforests and the ocean, as well as community development efforts in Hainan. Our work provides support and recommendations for improving the ecological management system of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park’s ecological guards, encouraging the participation of national park science volunteers, and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs).
