Established in September 2022, the Shan Shui Foundation is committed to advancing the sustainable development of public welfare initiatives and promoting harmonious coexistence between people and nature. The foundation focuses on sustainable governance in urban and rural communities, network and talent support, sustainable development, and scientific research.

Through supporting research projects that respond to industry needs and thematic grants, the foundation aims to better address societal demands for ecological civilization and sustainable development. It seeks to mainstream biodiversity and advance the growth of relevant sectors.

Foundation Strategies

As an initiative founded by the practice-oriented Shan Shui Conservation Center, the foundation aims to further complement and expand upon Shan Shui’s existing roles, particularly in two key areas:

  1. Sustainable support for conservation actions.
  2. Systematic review and in-depth research on conservation issues.

Support for the Nature Conservation Sector

Talent Support:

  • Support talent development in the conservation sector, especially frontline conservation practitioners.
  • Provide financial support, capacity building, network development, and long-term guidance to lay a strong foundation of talent and drive the sustainable growth of nature conservation efforts.

Conservation Actions:

  • Support more organizations in carrying out conservation initiatives across different regions and topics through financial support, capacity building, and guidance.
  • Summarize conservation experiences, help organizations amplify their existing expertise, and contribute to the comprehensive development of the conservation sector.
  •

Shan Shui Research Institute

The Research Institute will engage scientific professionals to systematically review, analyze, and investigate conservation issues. It will build datasets, produce analytical reports and recommendations, and provide guidance for investment strategies, policy recommendations, and practical applications in the conservation field.

The core value of the Shan Shui Foundation is “unity of knowledge and action”, promoting the consolidation of knowledge and experience in the conservation sector and supporting their application in community-based ecological conservation initiatives.
